The German Weather Service DWD in Offenbach warned the front’s gusty winds and torrential rain could be the first big storm of autumn.
The entire country is in for some sort of precipitation midweek – rain in the southeast, showers in the northwest and thunderstorms along the coast. Temperatures will range between 12 and 17 degrees Celsius.
Things won’t improve much on Thursday, and the Alpine regions could be in for heavy rain all day long.
For anyone planning an outing on the national holiday on Friday – German Unity Day – be sure to take warm jacket and an umbrella. Temperatures will drop considerably and daytime highs will only reach a chilly 9 to 14 degrees Celsius. DWD’s meteorologists said ‘Quinta’ could even dump the first snow of the year at altitudes above 1,200 metres.
