Some 74 percent of those surveyed said they are not worried about the money they have saved in banks. Just one-quarter of those polled said they had fears about what would happen to their cash in the unstable financial situation, the magazine reported.
Worries about the job market are also relatively low, with just 14 percent of the 1,003 poll participants saying they feared they might lose their job in the next year – 6 percent fewer than those asked the same question in April 2006.
In contrast, some 40 percent of Germans said they were concerned that their salaries would not increase to meet inflation.
The Stern poll was conducted by research institute Forsa on October 9 and 10.
