Germany’s federal police (BKA) took the unusual step of enlisting the public’s help amid fears the man was still abusing young boys. Previous efforts to find the man, who filmed his deeds and posted them on the internet, failed.
Identified only as Christoph, the man turned himself into police at an undisclosed location only hours after news began circulating about him. He will stand before a judge on Friday.
“The investigation into the case continues so at the moment there will be no further information released,” the BKA said in a statement.
The BKA has 42 videos that show the man sexually and physically abusing up to nine young boys in different rooms, they said from their headquarters in Wiesbaden. Investigators believe the videos were recorded in 2006 when the boys were between five and seven-years-old.
Police estimated that the man’s young victims are currently between eight and 10-years-old, and two were called Marcel and Pascal. Some of the victims may also have been brothers, they said.
Information on the case was presented on Wednesday evening on broadcaster ZDF’s unsolved crime show Aktenzeichen xy…ungelöst.
