Cantonal police are continuing to search for Emilie Fortuzi, last seen on November 12th after disappearing from a specialized institution in the Swiss city.
But on Sunday the local daily La Liberté reported that a pair of pants and a shoe belonging to the girl were found on the banks of the Sarine River, which flows through the city.
The clothes, found in the Petit-Windig region, have been identified by Fortuzi’s family.
Police suspect that it is more likely that the girl was the victim of an accident than a kidnapping.
“We have no indication that this is about an abduction,” cantonal police said, according to a report from 20 Minutes.
However, the force is continuing to look for the girl, who cannot express herself but is capable of understanding French.
According to the description provided by police she is 165 centimetres tall with short, chestnut-brown hair and was wearing glasses.
She was last seen wearing a black ski pants with a purple and grey winter jacket and brown and beige running shoes.
Police requested anyone who may have seen the girl or who has information about her whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or to phone 026 305 17 17.
