Walker, 40, the star of the Fast and Furious film series, died last month in a California car crash.
The handsome actor heads a top ten list of most searched names in Google’s Zeitgeist report for Switzerland, released on Tuesday, which is notably short on people and big on tech.
Walker comes ahead of Ricardolino, the online shopping site; iPhone 5s, the mobile phone from Apple; and IOS 7, the mobile operating system from Apple.
GTA 5, the latest version of the Grand Theft Auto video game series, ranked fifth.
After Walker, Kate Middleton, the wife of England’s Prince Edward, whose son’s birth aroused global interest, is the next person on the list in sixth place.
The only Swiss name in the overall top 10 is Beatrice Egli, who placed seventh.
Beatrice who? you may be asking.
Egli, a native of Pfäfikkon in the canton of Zurich, is celebrated in Switzerland for winning this year the German music competition Deutschland sucht den Superstar, claiming a €500,000 prize and a recording contract with Universal Music.
“Ice hockey WM”, the world’s men’s ice hockey championships, ranked eighth.
Switzerland clinched the silver medal in the 2013 competition earlier this year after advancing to the finals.
“Easter 2013” came ninth in the search list for no immediately obvious reason, followed by “Gangnam Style”, the dance song from South Korean artist Psy which remained a hit in Switzerland this year (and worldwide with more than 1.8 billion hits on YouTube).
Sticking strictly to people, here’s the top ten list of most Googled names in Switzerland:
1. Paul Walker
2. Kate Middleton
3. Beatrice Egli
4. Nelson Mandela
5. Olivia Ostergaard (murder victim)
6. Carsten Schloter (former Swisscom CEO who committed suicide)
7. Cory Monteith
8. Ronny Keller (Swiss hockey player paralyzed after a body check)
9. Royal Baby
10. Oscar Pistorius
