Commuters in Terrassa pulled out their mobile phones and watched in astonishment as the herd of “completely disorientated and scared” herbivores made their way through the underground station.
It didn’t take long before witnesses started posting their videos and photos online, such as the one featured below.
According to Spanish national daily El País, one of the security guards present at the scene used a whistle and his best goat herder’s yell to move the animals through the tunnel to a safer spot.
It took him 40 minutes but no trains suffered delays as a result.
Although authorities aren’t completely sure yet of how the goats got into the station, there is a farm nearby and construction work outside the station may have allowed them to get through a fence leading to the tunnels.
