The new design is the work of by creatives Neue Design Studio. The Oslo-based agency won a competition held by Norway's national police to revamp every Norwegian's most cherished document.
Even before its proposed 2017 launch, the new passport's design has 'travelled' the world via the internet and caught the eye of design lovers everywhere.
The design features one interactive feature has captured the imaginations of thousands. Pass UV light over the pages and the design changes from a contemporary version of the Norwegian landscape by day (below) to a stylish night-time version (see above).

The global media has applauded the pioneering interactive design:
"Expect Norwegian travellers to cut a dash as they travel across the globe," said the UK's Daily Telegraph.
"Offers colorful changes both inside and out in an effort to stem fraudulent travel documents," warned ABC News in the US.
"Will the Nords ever stop in their quest for global design domination?" asked Gizmodo Australia.
"Cementing Norway’s status as the land of progressive design," stated RT.
Here at The Local, we think the new passport is a perfect example of Norway's new leading edge as one of the best countries in the world. And Norwegians now have a design classic that surely ranks high as the best passport EVER.
