Austria’s Cartel Court ruled that Vöslauer had fixed prices with retailers on numerous occasions during this time.
"The anti-competitive practices related to influencing retail prices of certain non-alcoholic beverages, especially bottled water, in the period between January 2007 and December 2012," a statement from the Cartel Court said.
The price fixing also affected special offers on Vöslauer products sold by supermarkets and grocery shops.
With a market share of around 40 percent, the Vöslauer company is the country’s largest mineral water bottler by far. It waived the right to appeal the court’s decision, which is now final.
In recent years, food retailers and manufacturers suspected of illegal vertical price fixing have been the focus of Austria’s competition authorities.
Dairies and breweries have also been fined for fixing retail prices. In 2013 the Austrian subsidiary of food retailer Rewe was fined €20.8 million for vertical price fixing agreements.
