The band, who have been promoting the event for months on their website, drew 300 diehard fans to Norway for the event, with some coming from as far away as Australia.
“It was absolutely insane to stand on the tip of the tongue and play,” Jørgen Munkeby, the band’s frontman and singer told Norway’s NRK channel. “It is the most surreal experience I’ve ever had.”
Trolltunga juts out over a 700m drop down into the Ringedalsvatnet lake near the town of Odda, some 200km outside Bergen.
Munkeby said that the band had taken a long time to get used to the height.
“Everyone in the band was obviously afraid of heights, but no one panicked,” he said. “When we started playing, we thought nothing more of the height.”
AK Glück-Teigland, the cultural promoter who had the idea for the concert, said that it had been a struggle to pull off.
“Both financially and technically, the concert was challenging to implement,” he said. “But with a lot of positive support, we managed to do the impossible.”

The band, who are currently on a European tour, were flown up to Trolltunga by helicopter.
