Having already exposed holes in the FBI's and NSA's digital security, Saxony-based digital security expert Matthias Ungethüm took on his next target: Interpol.
“The solution came to me in the bathtub,” the 27 year old told the Dresden-based Morgen Post24.
Once he found the security gap, Ungethüm used Cross Site Scripting to add “wanted” pages for Markus Ulbig, the Christian Democratic interior minister of Saxony. Video game icon Pac-Man also received a profile among the listed murderers, terrorists, and career criminals.
Ungethüm said that he told the global crime agency on May 30 about the hack, but no action was taken until MoPo24 published its article on Wednesday.
The pages have since been removed and the security gap was closed.
Ungethüm is a self-taught computer security expert. In 2014, he hacked into the NSA servers. A year later, he found and exposed a security gap in the FBI's digital security.
