The officer has filed a “workplace harassment” complaint with her union after she was reprimanded and told she faced suspension without pay for making an unscheduled trip to the lavatory.
She said she was forced to stop the patrol car and rush to the nearest toilet because she “unexpectedlt started menstruating” and needed to apply a sanitary product but was surprised at the strong reaction by her superior (male officer) to explain her short absence.
“Don't tell me fibs, you go to the toilet before or after the patrol, but not during it,” he shouted at her, according to a report in El Pais.
Several days later she was told she faced disciplinary action.
The incident occurred on March 8th which coincidentally is International Women’s Day, a day earmarked to fight for equality.
