Northern France on alert for high winds of up to 130km/h
France continues to be buffeted by harsh weather as parts of Normandy and the north east of the country are placed on alert for high winds.

The country's weather agency Météo France placed 13 departments on alert on Wednesday afternoon for high winds.
The orange alerts – the second highest level of weather warning are in place from 9pm on Wednesday until 8am on Thursday for the departments of Manche and Seine-Maritime on the Normandy coast, as well as Ardennes, Aube, Marne, Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Bas-Rhin, Haute-Rhin, Somme and Vosges in the north east of the country.
Winds of up to 130km/h an hour are expected on the coast and up to 110km/h inland.
The public in these areas are urged to be cautious and avoid any unnecessary travel. They have also been warned to expect power cuts and trees and other objects to be blown over, so are advised to remain indoors.
