Austria on Monday issued a travel warning for the entire state of Tyrol.
Clusters of the highly infectious coronavirus mutation, which was first detected in South Africa, has been detected in the state.
The travel warning does not include a mandatory quarantine, but rather encourages people to avoid all non-essential travel to the western state.
The federal government also called upon everyone who has been in Tyrol in the past two weeks to get tested.
In addition, anyone who is currently leaving Tyrol to go elsewhere in Austria is strongly encouraged to get tested.
Is a statewide isolation order possible?
The Austrian government is in talks with Tyrol’s leaders over what steps should be taken after mutations of the virus variant first detected in South Africa were found in the Austrian federal state.
