Sjödin was convicted in October of assaulting a bouncer at Stockholm’s Crazy Horse bar. The assault took place after Sjödin and a friend had been drinking at the bar last January.
The top Social Democrat was fined and ordered to pay compensation to the doorman, Babak Jamei, after being found guilty on four charges, including assaulting a person holding legal authority.
The Svea Court of Appeal denied Sjödin leave to appeal, but Sjödin hopes that the Supreme Court will reverse this decision. Sjödin resigned in December after her appeal application was turned down.
