“In almost every state, those covered by certain insurers must face limitations,” said Jürgen Fedderwitz, head of the KZBV federal association of dentists, in an interview with daily Bild.
Unless there is an emergency, many dentists will be forced to push treatment until 2011, the paper said.
Many dentists are already working out of their own pockets after exhausting budgets set aside for treatment by public insurers, Fedderwitz told the paper.
Emergencies include acute tooth pain, the paper said.
Among those affected are those insured by AOK Berlin and Brandenburg, and the Bundesknappschaft in Bavaria. Meanwhile many of the more than five million insured by IKK will also be denied appointments, the paper said.
