The office says it expects accumulations from as little as one to three centimetres around the national capital to 10 centimetres in Picardy.
A total of 13 departments are expected to be impacted, including those in the Nord-Pas de Calais region, along a band extending from Lille to south of Paris.
The snow is forecast to start falling around midnight, continuing through Friday morning.
With temperatures hovering around zero, the snow is expected to be wet and sticky, which can lead to problems when compacted on road surfaces.
Motorists are being asked to be particularly vigilant against icy conditions.
Heavy snowfall elsewhere in the country has allowed for many ski resorts to open in the Alps and Pyrenees.
