The scam saw the Norwegian youths place fake advertisements on a website offering escort services. The ads offered sex with women in exchange for gift vouchers which had to be purchased in advance via the website. The crafty duo were set to net 150,000 kroner ($22, 600) before the website owners became suspicious and alerted the police.
The boys posed online as female escorts promising sex in exchange for clients to send online payments with a cash value. The boys stole the money, but no prostitutes ever showed up.
The website which hosted the boys' fake business eventually reacted to the scam and withheld part of the payments.
Dozens of men were tricked in the scam, with around 150,000 kroner defrauded from unlucky clients, reported Norwegian newspaper Malvikbladet.
