Game of Thrones add a surprise Spain location

The hit television series have added Navarra as a third location in Spain to their September filming schedule and are looking for tall, slender men and women with a dark complexion to be extras.

Tudela in Spain’s northern region of Navarra has been chosen as a location for scenes in the upcoming Season Six along with Girona in Catalonia and the seaside town of Peñiscola in Castellon.

It is the second year in a row that Spain has been chosen to film locations of the wildly popular HBO series.

Last year scenes from Season Five were filmed in Seville and Osuna, both destinations that have seen a huge boost in tourism as fans flock to visit real life locations from the show.

The last minute addition of Tudela was announced just 36 hours before auditions will be held for film extras.

Modexpor International Casting, a company based in Malaga southern Spain charged with supplying extras for Games of Thrones, announced the casting for Saturday.

It said it was looking for 800 men and 400 women aged between 18 and 65 years old and stipulated that applicants must be “very brown and Mediterranean” with dark hair.

As in previous castings, only those of slim build and with no tattoos would be considered.

Auditions were held earlier in the week in Girona when thousands of people turned up in a bid to work as an extra on the film.

Casting sessions ahead of filming in Peñiscola would be announced soon, the company said.
