The body of Andrea Maffi, from Villongo in the province of Bergamo, was found at his home in Watamu, a beach town located north of Mombasa, La Repubblica reported.
The cause of death is yet unknown, although Il Giorno reported that he was found with stab wounds.
The discovery was made on Saturday night, after Maffi, who had lived in the resort for 15 years, did not respond to calls and messages for days.
His death was confirmed by Italy’s Foreign Ministry. His father and brother were due to fly to Mombasa on Sunday.
Maffi had been working as a safari tour operator in Watamu.
