The images, taken from a CCTV camera in a Berlin Spätkauf (liquor store) on Saturday, show artist Ewa Kowska hours before her death in the company of a middle-aged man.
According to the Berliner Kurier, the CCTV footage shows the pair buying two bottles of wine and two small bottles of vodka and then leaving the shop in apparently high spirits.
Police have now identified the man as the primary suspect for the murder of Kowska, after witnesses reported him jumping out of the window of her flat hours later, shortly before a fire broke out in the building.
According to the police report, the man has told people he is Belgian and speaks very good English.
Residents of Pücklerstraße in Kreuzberg alerted authorities to the fire shortly before 10pm on Saturday evening.
During the operation to put out the fire, emergency services found the 41-year-old Kowska’s body at shortly before 10pm.
Attempts to resuscitate her at the scene failed.
Police say that Kowska, originally from Poland, died before the fire broke out in the apartment. The postmortem showed that she had several stab wounds in her body.
According to the Berliner Zeitung, police believe there might be a link between the murder and the sadomasochism scene in the capital.
The newspaper reports that Kowska had been active in the scene for years and claims that the suspect also had links to the scene.
