“It's absolutely fantastic. The bridge is beautiful and is going to attract many people to Eidfjord, Hardanger, Western Norway and Norway,” Marit Stadheim, head of Visit Eidfjord, the local tourist agency told Norway's state broadcaster NRK.
The footbridge crosses the canyon 50m above the 182m high waterfall, which was the most visited natural attraction in Norway in 2018.
But the bridge has been controversial, with Arne Nævra, a photographer who is an MP for the Socialist Left party, campaigning against it.
“I think it's sad to see. I think it is an abuse of nature,” he told NRK when shown the video. “I get an actual physical pain seeing how it has ended up. The pictures only confirm my worst fears.”
