The Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO) announced the most popular baby names in Switzerland for 2019.
The announcement was made on Tuesday.
From 86,172 children born in 2019, Liam and Mia have emerged as the most popular names in the country.
There were 443 Liams born across Switzerland last year, along with 434 Mias.
Both names were popular in 2018 when the last list was compiled, although while Liam was still at number one, Mia sat in second place behind Emma.

For boys, Noah (437) and Matteo (360) were also popular.
Last year’s front runner Emma was in second place (401) while Sofia (341) was in third.
Different names popular in different parts of Switzerland
As with everything and anything in Switzerland, the trends were different depending on the linguistic region of the country.
While Mia and Liam topped the charts in German-speaking Switzerland – to be expected as the country’s most-spoken language – in French-speaking Switzerland Emma and Liam were most popular.
In Italian-speaking Switzerland, Sofia and Leonardo were first, while Lina and Elia were first among Switzerland’s Romansh minority.
