Police reported on Tuesday that three men stopped the 36 and 40-year-old ticket sellers at the main box office location at the Potsdamer Platz Arkaden shopping mall as they were taking the day’s earning to the Berlinale office.
“They threatened the sellers with a knife and demanded money. One of the men punched the 36-year-old in the face with his fist and snatched a bag from him,” police said in a statement.
The 59th annual Berlinale film festival runs between February 5 – 15 and features 383 films this year. Second only to festivals in Cannes and Venice, the Berlinale opened this year with the world-premiere of German director Tom Tykwer’s finance world thriller “The International,” staring Naomi Watts and Clive Owen.
